That M16A2 Big Button looks handsome on my M16A2 clone, and it functions just like it should.
The Big Button is more correct for early M16A2s, where the receiver lacks thickened reinforcing material At the buffer tube like M16A1s. When M16A2s started coming out with the lower receiver reinforcement at the buffer tube, the big buttons sometimes got stuck on that fatter metal. To solve this, big buttons were “clipped”, meaning the material on that side of the button was ground off to prevent snagging. Eventually, these clipped big buttons were replaced with the small round forward assists that we’re currently accustomed with.
The only snag was the long lead time for the product to ship: just under two months. Hopefully, that’ll soon be ironed out. If Retro Rifles comes out with a “clipped” big button forward assist, I’ll order it as well, despite the long lead time.
Very good product, great attention to detail. Fast shipping as well. A+++
